A view of the pool at the North Queens Aquatic Centre

When the municipal pool first opened in 1984, residents of Caledonia had the opportunity to enroll their children in a safe environment for swimming lessons, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a quiet leisurely swim. As demand grew for pool time as well as upper level Red Cross and Lifesaving programs, administrators began to ponder the idea of a new, large pool for the area. Through their efforts a new pool was constructed. The new pool, 25 by 50 feet, allows diving in its 8.5' deep end, and provides the chance for little tikes to stand in its 3.5' shallow end. This new pool was opened in 1997, and is located next to the Medical Centre near Caledonia Corner.

The North Queens Aquatic Centre is open from approximately the second last week in June to the end of August.

There are different swims each day and there is a pool party on the first day that the pool opens in the summer. There are public swims, family swims, and adult swims. You can also rent the pool for celebrations or get togethers.

At the pool the staff teach many different lessons. There are usually four sessions throughout the summer. The different lessons are:

  • Aqua Aerobics
  • AquaQuest Levels 1-12
  • Private Lessons
  • Aqua Tots
  • AquaAdults
  • AquaLeaders
  • Lifesaving Courses
  • Canadian Swim Patrol (ages 9-12)
  • Bronze Star (age 12)
  • Bronze Medallion (age 13 and older)
  • Bronze Cross (age 14+)

All times are subject to change so please check with the pool staff to be sure.

The pool is open for lessons and swimming Monday-Friday, and for public swimming on Saturday and Sunday as well.
