A view of the Medway River in the Fall

South Brookfield is one community that you should not miss. It was settled in 1799 by William Burke and was the first community settled in the Northern part of Queens County. Just a few kilometres east of Caledonia on route 8 and also route 208, beautiful rolling farmlands are punctuated by woodlands and small settlements. The Medway River passes though South Brookfield, and there are several lakes quite close to the community. Located in South Brookfield right near the Hibernia Road, Cameron’s Landing picnic park is a wonderful place to stop and have lunch.

After you are done visiting Cameron’s Landing, you might want to take a trip down the Molega Road to the Wildcat First Nation, where Wild Cat River Outfitters is located. These folks offer guided canoe trips and plan to offer a wilderness campground in the near future.
