Ideas that grew beyond NQBT
NQBT developed the Caledonia Visitor Information Centre and the North Queens Business Hub, then spun off both initiatives. Their development is part of NQBT’s earlier work for local businesses and visitors.
About NQBT
We bring attention and care to local business, community places, and opportunities for the people who call this area home.
Our purpose

The North Queens Board of Trade is a volunteer-run non-profit bringing people together around local business and welcoming community spaces.
From community events to care of Harmony Park, NQBT works with neighbours and partners to make North Queens a lively place to live and visit. Its Gateway to Kejimkujik work connects business and visitor interests; Caledonia Community Park is one aspect of that wider project.

We connect with local businesses, community partners and people who make North Queens active.
We care for Harmony Park and develop Caledonia Community Park as one part of Gateway to Kejimkujik.
We plan later park phases and other ideas with partners, while clearly identifying what is proposed.
Our work over the years
From local celebrations and community beautification to initiatives later passed on, NQBT’s work has taken many forms.
NQBT developed the Caledonia Visitor Information Centre and the North Queens Business Hub, then spun off both initiatives. Their development is part of NQBT’s earlier work for local businesses and visitors.
NQBT developed Gateway to Kejimkujik to connect Caledonia's visitor welcome, local economy and community spaces with the national park.
In 2021, Gateway work brought NQBT together with Parks Canada and the Region of Queens Municipality. The Shop Local campaign promoted area businesses online; its final report recorded 30 businesses engaged and a campaign post that reached 12,000 people.

NQBT ran Canada Day at Queens County Fair for many years, bringing neighbours together with local groups and the support of the Caledonia Visitor Information Center. In 2025, the North Queens Fire Association took on the event for the first time after NQBT passed it along.
A first phase of Harmony Park trail work added drainage, renewed and widened the path, and provided benches and a covered picnic area. As of September 2026, NQBT continues to care for Harmony Park and is developing Caledonia Community Park within the Gateway project. Its four phases include completed trail and bridge work, current dock, trail-extension and signage work, and a future boardwalk and a new Visitor Information Centre building planned for Phase 4.
Explore the places and their stagesNQBT places Canadian flags on power poles in summer and works with the Region of Queens Municipality to arrange wreaths on the poles in winter. Flower boxes with seasonal arrangements add colour in the community.
For five years, NQBT has run the annual Christmas lights competition.
NQBT also places the Christmas tree at Caledonia Corner.
In 2025, it partnered with the local 4-H club to decorate trees along the trail in Caledonia Community Park.
