Care for today. Ideas for tomorrow.

NQBT cares for Harmony Park and advances Gateway to Kejimkujik, a broader effort that includes Caledonia Community Park.

Ongoing care

Harmony Park

Harmony Park has two ballfields, a 400 m walking track, and a multi-use sports court for tennis, pickleball, basketball and hockey. It also has a gazebo and existing parking.

NQBT hires a groundskeeper and summer student for seasonal care. Portable washroom service and garbage pickup run from May 15 through October 15.

Power has been installed at the gazebo and will be one of the items managed by the new Harmony Park committee. For the new parking lot across the road, NQBT is working with the Province to determine the entrance location and obtain the required building permits.

The park is one aspect of the overarching Gateway to Kejimkujik project. The park itself has four phases, each at a different stage.

  1. Phase 1 · CompletedTrail network and bridge.
  2. Phase 2 · CurrentDock/wharf and signage. The dock has been ordered and is being delivered. NQBT is extending the trail network to the lake in preparation for installation.
  3. Phase 3 · FutureBoardwalk.
  4. Phase 4 · FutureNew Visitor Information Centre building.

Connecting the park and the local economy.

Gateway to Kejimkujik is NQBT’s wider effort to connect Caledonia’s visitor welcome, local economy and community spaces with Kejimkujik National Park. Caledonia Community Park is one part of that work.

In 2021, NQBT worked with Parks Canada and the Region of Queens Municipality on local promotion. Its Shop Local campaign included a historical directory and map of area shops and services. Those listings are not a verified current business or NQBT membership directory.

Caledonia Community Park is one aspect of Gateway. Phase 4 is a future new Visitor Information Centre building; it is not yet an open facility.
